Ringing Bells starts shipping $4 phones in India – The Freedom 251

Ringing Bells starts shipping $4 phones in India – The Freedom 251

Back in February we heard about Freedom 251, the world’ cheapest Android Smartphone which is priced at just $4 or around 250 Indian Rupees. The phones have been manufactured by Ringing Bells, a startup mobile company in India who started their operations in 2015 and will be available to those who had pre-ordered these devices starting June 30th, 2016 At first everyone (including myself) had thought that this whole $4 smartphone looks like a big scam as it is virtually not possible for any company to manufacture at such a low rate; but now the company has kept all those rumors to rest and are ready to ship the first batch comprising of 200,000 phones within the next two days. The next batch of pre-orders are expected to commence after June 30th. Mohit Goel, the founder and CEO of Ringing Bells, while speaking with Indian Express said: “We will have a loss, but I am happy that the dream of connecting rural and poor Indians as part of the Digital India and Make in India initiatives has been fulfilled with Freedom 251.” Freedom 251 Tech Specs at a Glance 1.3GHz quad-core processor 1GB Ram 8GB internal member Up to 32 GB external memory 8MP primary camera with flash 3.2MP front camera 1,450 mAh battery Will run on Android 5.1 Dual SIM support 3G enabled Price: $4 or approximately INR...

Infinix Zero 3 – Hands On Review

Infinix Zero 3 – Hands On Review

The Infinix Zero 3 is Infinix Mobility’s flagship smartphone of 2016. There was a lot of hype about the smartphone, when it launched earlier this year. Now, does it live up to that hype? Lets find out! The Infinix Zero 3 comes with a 5.5 inch FULL HD 1080p IPS LCD Display (400 ppi) which is very sharp and is a real step up from the 720p display of the Zero 2. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 3, so it is sturdy enough to withstand, if it falls straight on its face. The device itself is made of up of high grade plastic, which gives the device a premium feel. The back of device is textured but quite smooth, though I personally am not a big fan of the design (curved phones have spoilt me). The device itself is a real power house, running on MediaTek’s Helio X10 64 bit 2.1 GHz Octa core processor with a IMG G6200 GPU. Not only that but the Zero 3 comes with 3GB of RAM, which makes the device a beast of a phone. Multi-tasking is quite smooth and games and HD videos run without any lag. Sticking with memory the Zero 3 comes with 16GB of internal storage with microSD card support. Now, lets talk about the camera, the Infinix Zero 3 comes with a Exymor RS Sony IMX 230 20MP shooter at the back which can record videos up to 4K resolution (30fps). The camera software also features some professional settings if you want to play around with the ISO or shutter speed to get the perfect shot. If not, the auto mode is good enough to take random shots. We have taken some sample images below and we will leave you to judge. On the front lies a 5MP camera with flash for situation where low light selfies become important. In order to handle all that power, the Infinix Zero 3 runs on a 3000 mAh, on light or careful (not keeping WiFi or data on whole day) usage, then it will last you a day, but rest assured you would have to still charge the device when you go to sleep. On heavy use (wifi on whole day and gaming) we had to charge the device twice a day. So for people who looking for a longer lasting battery, then they need to consider this point. Software wise the device runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box and will soon be upgraded to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. On top of it lies Infinix’s own XUI skin, which brings with it some cool features including tap to wake up etc. The...

Infinix Note 2 – Hands on Review

Infinix Note 2 – Hands on Review

Infinix has made a name for itself by coming up with good quality smartphones for a budget friendly audience. After a very successful Hot Note launch last year, the Chinese OEM has stepped up its game with this year’s device the Infinix Note 2 4G. The Note 2 4G comes with a 6 inch 720p HD IPS Display (245 ppi) which is big and bright, perfect for people who like to game or watch videos and movies on their phone. The big display also helps with surfing the web, without straining your eyes. Under the hood lies a MediaTek MT6753 64 bit Octa Core 1.3 GHz processor which is quite strong enough to play the most power hungry games such as Gods of Rome and Mortal Kombat X. The processor is supported with 2GB of RAM which helps a lot if you are a multi-tasker. The body is plastic through and through, but the device is built ergonomically very well (Thanks to the curved back), so it does not feel that it will slip from your hand at any point in time On the storage front the Note 2 comes with 16GB of internal memory with microSD card support up to 32GB. The highlight of the device is its massive 4040 mAh battery which easily lasts you 2 days of light usage and 1.5 days of moderate to heavy use. This is perfect for people who are away from a charging socket for long periods of time. Talking about charging as the device has Quick Charge support, so half and hour of charging will easily give you a day and the full charge takes just under 90 minutes, which is impressive considering the capacity of the battery. The device also has Ultra Power Saving Mode for those tricky times when you have to keep your phone running when the battery is just about to die. The Note 2 comes with a 13MP shooter at the back, which is an upgrade from the 8MP camera found in its predecessor. The camera to our surprise does take pretty good pictures, and with the help of HDR the colors pop up really well. On the front lies a 2MP shooter which comes in handy for selfie lovers. Check out the sample pictures below:     Finally lets talk about the software, the Infinix Note 2 4G runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box and is upgrade-able to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. On the top of it is Infinix’s very own XUI skin, which brings with it a couple of really cool features, such as OTG support, Double Tap to Wake up display, Hand Gesture Commands and...

KFC’s Watt a Box charges your phone while you eat

KFC have a special knack when it comes to innovative technology. One Plus 3 vs Galaxy S7 Edge – Speed and Performance test comparison [Video]

One Plus 3 vs Galaxy S7 Edge – Speed and Performance test comparison [Video]

The One Plus 3 seems to be the talk of the town these days mainly because of two things: its sleek simplistic design and the massive 6GB RAM. Question is will it be enough to stand toe-to-toe with the Samsung S7 Edge? We’ll let you be the judge after watching the video.   Our friends at C4ETech have done a comparison with the Samsung GALAXY Edge 7 and the results look really impressive. One thing to be noted here is that the One Plus 3 by default comes with a battery optimization feature that restricts the number of apps running in the background. Due to this, the device wasn’t able to fully utilize all the power that it actually possesses. In order to fix this, XDA had come up with a small fix that enables you to fully utilize the phone’s large memory. Even though XDA have claimed that this might compromise the phone’s battery, but from what we have seen so far, that doesn’t seem to be the case. For those of you who are lucky enough to get your hands on this beast, we would like to hear what you guys think about the One Plus 3 with and without the RAM fix. Do share your thoughts with us in the comments below....

Say Goodbye to regular Wi-Fi signal drops with Plume Pods

Say Goodbye to regular Wi-Fi signal drops with Plume Pods

In today’s wireless world where everything is seemingly connected over a local Wi-Fi network, we often seem to face a common issue where we do not get full signal strengths in all the rooms of our house. Agreed? There are some people who besides having two-three routers in a house sometimes complain about drop in signals especially if there are lots of doors and walls. All this is about to change with Plume Podsan adaptive WiFi network system which uses multiple pods throughout your house to give you the best coverage possible. The concept behind Plume Pods may sound similar to a standard mesh network, but Plume has developed a self-learning system which adapts to your house, your devices and surrounding WiFI networks to consistently deliver a fast and reliable WiFi connection. Simply connect a pod in each room and enjoy uninterrupted connectivity throughout the house. Each Pod is about the size of a small night bulb and plugs right into the wall. The Pods also come with an Ethernet port but you only need to connect one pod to your modem using a regular LAN cable. “Plume is a cloud coordinated WiFi system that exponentially increases the signal strength and quality of your WiFi. It monitors your WiFi activity and balances your network load without sacrificing the performance of one device over another. Plume utilizes multiple WiFi channels in the same home to communicate between Plume Pods, eliminating congestion as your WiFi demands change and increase. Our cloud algorithms figure out which band to use for each device to ensure your devices have access to the speed they deserve, avoiding interference along the way. Plume WiFi adapts to the physical space you live in, your online devices, your household, and even to your neighbor’s WiFi usage patterns (yes, their networks also impact your environment!). It adapts real-time to your personal needs.” As far as pricing and availability is concerned, the company is in the final testing phase before the Pods go on sale this fall. If you pre-order today, you can get a pack of six Pods for $234 with each additional Pod costing $39. Once the devices are floated in the market, each Plume Pod will be retailing at $49. Pre-orders are currently only limited to the US but the company says that it is planning to open them up to other countries as well before the official launch. So what do you guys think of this new handy little device? If you’re like me who uses multiple routers to cover the entire house, the Plume Pods can very well be the solution to all our Wi-Fi related problems. Source: Plume...

The all new Moto Z, Moto Z Force and Moto Mods

The all new Moto Z, Moto Z Force and Moto Mods

Modular devices seem to be the talk of the town these days. We have already talked about the LG G5 and the much anticipated Project Ara along with the recently announced BLOCKS which also happens to be the world’s first modular smartwatch. Not the ones to be left behind, Lenovo have also announced their new range of modular devices – The Moto Z and the Moto Z Force at the recently concluded Lenovo Tech World event in San Francisco. The company also announced a vast collection of Moto Mods that get attached to the back of devices using powerful electronic magnets. Let us now take a closer look at both the devices along with the Mods: Moto Z The Moto Z sports a 5.5-inch 1440 x 2560 display and is powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with 4GB of RAM. The phone packs 32GB and 64GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 2GB via a microSD card. As far as the cameras are concerned, the Motorola Moto Z packs a 13-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel front shooter for selfies. The device runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box and is powered by a 2600mAh non removable battery. It measures 153.30 x 75.30 x 5.20 (height x width x thickness) and weighs 136.00 grams. The Motorola Moto Z is a single SIM (GSM) smartphone that accepts a Nano-SIM. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, 4G. Sensors on the phone include Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, Accelerometer, and Gyroscope. The one thing missing from both these devices is your traditional 3.5mm headphone jacks that have been replaced by a standalone USB type C to 3.5mm connector which comes with the phones. The removal of the 3.5mm headphone jacks makes the Moto Z one of the thinnest looking Android devices ever made. Moto Z Force The company also announced a slightly more rugged variant of the Moto Z called the Moto Z force which comes with Motorola’s Moto ShatterShield technology for its display, which the company says will not crack or shatter. It is nearly identical otherwise, except for the the larger 3500mAh battery, which is rated to provide up to 40 hours of battery life. With TurboPower charging, it is said to provide 15 hours of battery life in just a 15-minute charge. It also bears a 21-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilisation, phase detection autofocus (PDAF), and laser auto focus along with a 5MP front shooter. Moto Mods The Moto Mods easily attach to the Moto Z and Moto Z Force with the help of high-powered magnets on the back of your device....
