TECNO Grabs A Huge Portion Of Smartphones Sales In Pakistan

TECNO Grabs A Huge Portion Of Smartphones Sales In Pakistan

As the technology is reshaping the world, it has created a huge impact on the user-friendly devices. By the advent of handheld devices, tables have turned in their favor. Smartphone sales have, to a surprise surpassed the sales of portable and table devices. It has been reported by IDC Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker that phone companies shipped a total of 344.3 million smartphones in the first quarter of 2017. It comes as a surprise though that the total market share of old companies is being challenged by rather new companies who have amazingly succeeded in capturing the attention of consumers spread across the globe. Tecno Mobiles, a success story from amongst these brands is making headlines and for the right reason. Founded in 2006, it has already started to affect the global share of the mobile phone companies. In 2011 Tenco achieved a benchmark by introducing the first dual-sim mobile in Africa. It was not much later that in 2012 Tecno launched its first smartphone in the market. In 2015 it became the number-one brand in African market with a total share of 23.4%, a place that Tecno still retains. Tecno Mobiles has since then spread its wings from African markets to the other regions of the world and now has its footprints and presence in over 40 countries. In April this year, Tecno took to the Pakistani markets by introducing a wide range of smartphones specifically designed to fulfill the needs and choices of the youth. Peculiar and innovative features like high-end selfie cameras integrated with the latest technology in these smartphones have gained a new high record of appreciation from the youth that constitutes around 60% of the Pakistani population. Such a penetration within a short span of time has not match in the recent history of the mobile market. It is no wonder why the competitors have started to feel shaken by this unprecedented growth of Tecno. Since then Tecno, which started in 3 metropolitans, has spread across 25 cities in Pakistan within a short period of time. As the numbers fill colors in the story of mobile sales, it is worth mentioning that the sales of Tecno Mobiles have surpassed over 120 million units till now. With a vision of “Think Globally Act Locally” Tenco has been reshaping the multi-sensory experiences through the introduction of innovative technologies in high-end devices. User-friendly, a single word that describes the effort of R&D team of Tecno behind every device being produced has played a major role in securing the attention of the customers. Tecno understanding the importance of vivid visual and sound effects in a smart phone, has introduced high end cameras for...

Google launches Datally, an app that saves you data

Google launches Datally, an app that saves you data

Today Google announced Datally, a smart and simple Android app that helps smartphone users understand, control, and save mobile data. Datally works on all smartphones running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and higher, and is available today on the Google Play Store globally. Datally helps solve one of the biggest pain points for smartphone users around the world — worries about data usage. Google found during extensive user research around the world that many smartphone users worry about running out of data. This is an especially acute problem for the newest generation to come online, known as the “Next Billion Users.” Not only are these smartphone users constantly thinking about data balances, but they do not understand where their data is going, nor do they feel in control over allocating data to the apps they really care about. Datally empowers users to solve these problems with four key features: Data Saver. Apps frequently use data in the background for updating content and information. Datally’s Data Saverfeature lets users control data on an app-by-app basis, so that data only goes to apps they care about. People testing the app saved up to 30% of mobile data, depending on the way they used Datally. Data Saver bubble. Once Data Saver is turned on, Datally’s Data Saver bubble will appear when a user goes into an app that is allowed to use data. Whenever that app uses data, the Data Saver bubble will show the current rate of data usage, and users can easily choose to block that app’s data use if things start to get out of control. The Data Saver bubble is like a speedometer for mobile data. Personalized alerts. Datally alerts users when apps start consuming a lot of data, and it allows them to see how much data they’ve used on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Wi-Fi finder. There are also times when users want to use more data than they have on their mobile plans, such as when they want to watch HD videos. Public Wi-Fi is an important access point for high-bandwidth connectivity, so Datally’s Find Wi-Fi feature reveals the networks nearby, rated by the Datally community. Once connected, users can rate the Wi-Fi networks themselves based on their own experience. For more information visit the Datally website: datally.google.com. Download Link: Datally for...

Karandaaz Launches a Study on SME Financing in Pakistan

Karandaaz Launches a Study on SME Financing in Pakistan

Karandaaz Pakistan, working to promote access to finance for small businesses and financial inclusion in the country, has launched a report on the nature and characteristics of small and medium enterprise (SME) financing and non-performing loans in Pakistan. The study explores trends in SME financing over the past decade, and reasons that have contributed to a high ratio of non-performing loans. The economic census conducted in 2005 placed the number of SMEs in Pakistan at approximately 3 million units, constituting more than 90 percent of the country’s economic establishments. In line with this estimate, SMEs account for 30 percent of GDP, generate 78 percent of non-agri employment, and contribute 25 percent of manufactured goods exports. Despite these vital contributions, SMEs in Pakistan suffer from limited access to formal credit. At its peak in Dec-07, SME financing was PKR 437 billion i.e., 15 percent of total private sector credit. By 2013, this number was down to 5.6 percent, compared to 15 percent in India; 25 percent in Bangladesh, and over 30 percent in Korea, Thailand and Turkey. By 2016, SME loans were 7 percent of total private sector lending. Similarly, non-performing loans for the SME segment in Pakistan have remained north of 20 percent in the previous decade. Cross-country comparison indicates significantly lower non-performing loan ratios in SME sectors for most East Asian and South Asian economies. CEO Karandaaz, Ali Sarfraz explained, “Karandaaz aims to reduce the capital constraint faced by small and medium enterprises so that they utilize their latent potential for creating jobs and contributing to national GDP.  This study is an effort to bring greater clarity about the nature of non-performing loans in SME sector so that market players can make informed choice about credit provision to SMEs.” Karandaaz Pakistan promotes access to finance for small businesses through commercially directed investments and financial inclusion for individuals. Karandaaz Pakistan has financial and institutional support from the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development (DFID) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The detailed report can be accessed at:...

Have a Look at Pakistan’s First-ever Smartphone Fashion Shoot using the Huawei Mate 10 Pro

Have a Look at Pakistan’s First-ever Smartphone Fashion Shoot using the Huawei Mate 10 Pro

Stop what you’re doing for the country’s first-ever smartphone fashion shoot is here. Ace-photographer and Pakistan’s favourite shutterbug Tapu Javeri went on a breathktaking quest to Skardu to conduct a never-seen-before fashion shoot from a HUAWEI Mate 10 Pro – and boy are we mesmerized by the results!   Tapu Javeri and HUAWEI Mate 10 Pro are a match made in heaven! Tapu chose the picturesque Skardu valley to exude his passion for photography all through the lenses of HUAWEI Mate 10 Pro. Nestled on the confluence of the Indus and Shigar rivers, Skardu is the gateway to mighty mountains, scintillating lakes and wilderness that wears a different colour in every season. It was only fitting for Tapu to choose this location for an avant-garde fashion shoot. Mahi Muse looked ravishing as she posed at the Shigar Cold Desert. The vast stretch of plains among high mountains gave an eclectic mix of landscape and depth to the shoot altogether. The camera on the HUAWEI Mate 10 Pro – co-engineered with Leica – captured some candid shots of Mahi dressed in vibrant travel attire through its SUMMILUX-H lenses. Tapu Javeri loved the experience of his HUAWEI Mate 10 Pro and put its 12-megapixel RGB sensor to good use. Things got really exciting when Mahi cuddled up with colourful flowers on a boat on the scenic Upper Kachura Lake. It was a moment worth living, as the boat glided on serene waters of the lake and Tapu took vivid shots through the smartphone. An AI-powered Real-Time Sense and Object Recognition system identified human shots and flower shots adjusting its settings automatically. A village near Upper Kachura Lake also caught Tapu’s wild imagination. Its trees dyed in hues of autumn created an ethereal aura that looked right out of a dream. Hopped on a cycle, Mahi had an angelic glow that HUAWEI Mate 10 Pro’s camera masterfully encapsulated. The camera’s AI-powered Bokeh Effect created brilliant portraits – no less than a DSLR. Not only was Tapu spellbound by the landscape, but was also drawn to the warmth of Skardu’s people. While a group of friends bonded over tea, Tapu memorialized the moment in exquisite monochrome portraits taken through the 20-megapixel Monochrome sensor. The HUAWEI Mate 10 Pro also took some classic bokeh shots that added a unique candidness to the gathering. As night fell on the Lower Kachura Lake and an eerie silence fell over the valley, Tapu indulged himself into another photographic experience. With the HUAWEI Mate 10 Pro’s wide aperture of f/1.6, he embalmed a low-lit shot of the lake, as it reflected a shimmering moon on its tranquil surface. To have a look at...
