The Xperia Ray is one of the latest devices to be added to Sony Ericsson’s ever expanding range of Xperia Android handsets and looks to be one of the more promising devices in the series. Recently, Three Mobile added the device to their coming soon page with an expected release date for September and likewise O2 has since followed suit.

The Ray is a little bit smaller than the flagship Xperia phones like the Arc and the earlier X10, although not quite as small as the mini Xperia phones. This is a comfortable size that offers up a decent enough screen for videos and web browsing while being a bit more comfortable to hold than some of the larger touchscreen devices doing the rounds.

The Arc will come with Gingerbread Android and some excellent social networking features, great entertainment as you would expect from Sony Ericsson, and a pretty enjoyable online experience with DLNA Wi-Fi and 3G. One of the highlights of the Ray is its excellent 8 megapixel camera complete with 720p video and Exmor R sensor.

As the phone is only being displayed in the coming soon section of the O2 and Three Mobile websites there is no word yet on what Xperia Ray contracts will be on offer. However, judging by other handsets in the Xperia range we expect that the cheapest contract should be no more than £20 per month with a good bundle of minutes and texts. September is not too far away, so sit tight if you like the look of the Xperia Ray.
