Android just got “TOUGHER”!
Android tablets are flooding the market these days, with different companies bringing out their own versions of the “TABLET”. Asus has in the past given us tablets such as the Eee Pad and the Transformer. Now, Asus reveals its “TOUGH” tablet for those who desire a more abuse friendly device. The new Asus tablet will be water proof, dust resistant, and can survive a 76cm drop onto typically unforgiving concrete. This is hitting the Japanese markets first, given to Japanese carrier KDDI though no news about its European or US launch so far. With all of these rugged specs comes the extra bulk needed to keep all of its guts protected by its beefy rubberized skin.
The TOUGH-ETBW11A will come equipped with a 7″ 1280 x 800 display, a NVIDIA dual-core 1GHz Tegra 2 chip, Android 3.2 Honeycomb update to ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) has not been confirmed yet, 4G and WiMAX connectivity. There will be 16 GB of on board storage, a microSD slot, a 5MP rear-facing camera, GPS, WiFi b/g/n, and Bluetooth. Although a 7,400mAh battery is included, battery life has yet to be confirmed. The price has also yet to be decided.
This tablet is focused more for the business usage. Though, all of its details have not been released yet by Asus keeping it hush hush till its release in Q4 of this year.
