Sony set to release Android powered Walkman players in August
Strolling back to memory lane when we there were no portable Mp3 players or in that case any device including a cell phone that could play MP3 songs for you to take on the go. With that in mind, do you guys remember the “Walkman”? I most certainly do !
It played tapes and was one of my best companions in the world. Its been quite a while now since Sony came up with something big for its Walkman Series…..till now !! That’s right folks, even in the midst of all the hype revolving around Sony’s Xperia line of (impressive) Android devices, there might be a slight ray of hope still left for the Walkman franchise and with that said, Sony has a new round of Walkman devices launching in August, a lineup that includes Sony F800 Walkman which will ship with Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich; the first in the series to run Android 4.0
The portable music player will feature a 3.5-inch touchscreen and a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor. In terms of storage, users can choose between a 16GB or 32GB model. There are a number of pre-installed apps including a media gallery, email and apps. Users can download additional apps via Google Play. The F800 will also be equipped with Sony’s S-Master MX Digital Amplifier and the five Clear Audio technologies that should deliver crisp highs and deep bass. The F800 will also be Bluetooth-compatible allowing it to connect to other Bluetooth-enabled devices such as speakers and headphones.
Music lovers looking for a device with an even thinner body should check out the Sony Walkman E470 which is only 7MM thick. The Onboard E470 will have a 2.0-inch LCD display and will have three storage options which includes 4GB, 8GB and 16GB respectively. Onboard features include karaoke mode and synchronized lyrics. Sony has also included a few games like “Suduko,” “Tetris” and “Puyo Pop Fever” to name a few.
The F800 and the E470 will go on sale in August, just in time for back to school shopping. The 16GB F800 will retail for $269.99 while the 32GB version will cost $299.99. The 4GB, 8GB and 16GB E470 will retail for $79.99, $89.99 and $109.99 respectively. Which one would you be opting for ?
