One of Google I/O’s major attraction was the launch of Google’s much awaited new OS, Android 4.1 – Jelly Bean which was to be released for three devices this month namely the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S and the Motorola XOOM. The unlocked GSM Galaxy Nexus handsets have already been seeing the update, while Motorola’s XOOM would only be the second Tablet after the Nexus 7 to get the update. Now the only phone left in the update line is the Nexus S which according to Vodafone Australia, would be getting the Jelly Bean update on July 19th.

At the same time, the update to Jelly Bean for the carrier’s Galaxy Nexus is said to still be in testing, which is a bit odd when considering all things. Google hasn’t provided their own official timeline for the release of Android 4.1 for the Nexus S other than promising a release sometime this month, and it’s hard to say if the July 19th date will prove true outside of Australia. Till then we’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed for the update to arrive on other Jelly Bean supported devices.
