Google had promised at Google I/O earlier this year to launch developer services and  tools for the Google Play Store. They have lived up to their promise and now have launched Google Play Services v1.0. It is designed for those developers who want to integrate Google services into their Android apps, the platform is made up of two parts a services component that runs on the device and a thin client library that developers package with their apps. Some apps need to be update in order to utilize Google Play services.

These services are available for users who are using Android version  2.2 and later versions. Developers might have to be patient though as Google advises not to post any apps built using these new services to Google Play until the roll out is complete. Google warns that could take up to a week. Google Play gets updated automatically, but those who can not wait can download the Android SDK from the the Google Developers Site and the Android Developers Blog.
