Apple to replace Samsung with TSMC for Chip Manufacturing
There have been strong rumors after the relentless patent onslaught between Apple and Samsung. Everybody who knows something about technology knows that most of the processor chips in Apple devices are made by Samsung, well this is about change. According to Gus Richard, analyst at Piper Jaffray, Apple are in search of other chip manufacturers to make processor chips for their devices.
According to another source Samsung and Apple’s relationship is at a deteriorating point, they are just fulfilling the current contractual obligations and want to finish any ties with each other. Apple will be looking to make a deal with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company as they have the most advanced 20-nanometer (nm) manufacturing process.
And when is all of this going to happen? “I expect Apple to tape out — which means they’ll send the design to TSMC to see if they can make it — early next year and probably be in production by the end of next year,” according to Richard.
According to Asian source Apple will be turning to TMSC for making Quad-core chips as well. Both companies have not yet commented on this venture news yet. We’ll keep you posted as soon as further news rolls out.
