Mobilink promises to bring first 3G network in Pakistan
Good news for the residents of Pakistan, it seems that the country is finally going to get a taste of 3G services in Pakistan. As per an official announcement today, the country’s leading network carrier Mobilink would be investing around USD 1 billion towards the enhancement of its voice and data services with the introduction of 3G services as soon as its gets licensed in Pakistan by the PTA. Jo Lunder, Group CEO of Vimpelcom, parent company of Mobilink had this to say when asked about their plans of bringing these high speed mobile internet services in Pakistan;
“The investment on our mobile network is a continuation of Mobilink’s promise made at the start of 2012 to create a paradigm shift in Pakistan’s cellular environment. Mobilink will sustain its focus on infrastructure investment, increased coverage and great customer relationship management to provide our valued customers with the best cellular experience in Pakistan”
The company has also announced to sign a five year agreement with Huawei and Alcatel-Lucent for the design, purchase, deployment, and maintenance of state-of-the-art next generation mobile network equipment. In addition to a superior network performance, Mobilink also expects that the improved capabilities will allow the company to significantly increase network efficiency to enhance customer experience. Let us all hope that the plan gets initiated as soon as possible and once it gets initiated, it can also open a gateway for future services like 4G/LTE to step in as well.
