Samsung to showcase a Dust and Water Resistant Smartphone at MWC 2013
Most of us like our smartphones to be slim and classy, but their is a niche market which prefer their smartphone to be rugged and tough to break. In the past a few cellphone manufactures have heard the cries of these people, how ever small they are. Companies like Motorola had introduced the Motorola Defy, Sony had introduced the Xperia Go. Now its Samsung’s turn to show off its new line of dust and water proof smartphones, the Galaxy Xcover and Galaxy Xcover2 .
The Galaxy Xcover2 is said to be IP67 certified which means that it is resistant to dust, drop and is also waterproof. The smartphone can be used under water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. So, with the help of the dedicated “shutter key” you can use the smartphone to take some really good pics underwater. The pics should come out decent enough considering it has a 5MP rear camera.
The other features of the 4-inch smartphone include a 1.2 GHz Dual-core processor and 1 GB of Ram. The disappointing thing about the phone is the size of the internal memory which is only 4GB, plus side is you can add extra memory thanks to the micro SD card slot availability. The smartphone runs on Android4.1.2 Jelly Bean with Samsung’s Nature Touch Wiz UX. The device is rumored to be put on display at the upcoming Mobile World Congress next month, till then will just have to wait and watch.
