Samsung have since CES 2013 planned on launching a smartphone with a flexible/curved display. It all started with the prototype they showed at CES 2013 called Youm. Flexible displays are part of the evolution of smartphones as we know it. This will lead to bendable or fold able designs which in turn will give passage to new devices. According to Reuters a Samsung official announced that they are launching a curved display smartphone next month. The official statement was:
“We plan to introduce a smartphone with a curved display in South Korea in October,” said Samsung’s mobile business head of strategic marketing D.J. Lee
The device will have a curved display similar to the OLED TV’s by Samsung and LG. Rumors of the device were that i will be a new variant of the Galaxy Note 3 , but no news have come forth to suggest otherwise. Samsung have been very discrete with this smartphone, not letting any leaks come out, not even a name. October is turning into the month everybody seems to be waiting for.
