Camera apps are available in abundance these days and for those having a high end device don’t even bother giving them a try (no disrespect intended I’m just saying). Even though each OEMs camera app features different functionality, they all have some similarities with each other. With that said, the recently launched two giants namely the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the new HTC One (M8) both have some amazing looking shutters capable of capturing not just stunning snaps but also adding a nice after touch to it as well. These include the likes of the selective focus mode in the S5 and the one Touch Focus using the Duo Cam Option in the M8 and many other features.

Now for those of you owning the latest Android 4.4 KitKat device can get a taste of Google’s latest addition – the all new Google Camera app which includes many exciting features. The most notable is the addition of Photo Spheres, something Google implemented a long while ago but was missing from many of the devices (for reasons still unknown). Besides this, Google have also added a host of other notable features that include Lens Blur mode for SLR-like photos with shallow depth of field, Panorama mode with high resolution and a few more handy features that include:

• Photo Spheres for immersive 360º views
• Lens Blur mode for SLR-like photos with shallow depth of field
• Panorama mode with high resolution
• 100% viewfinder for getting the maximum resolution from the sensor (no dropped pixels)
• Updated UI that gets out of your way and is centered on an extra large capture button
• Works on phones and tablets running Android 4.4+ KitKat

As mentioned earlier, the app is currently only supported on devices running Android 4.4 and higher so those of you who are still stuck on any of the prior versions would have to wait a bit longer for the update to arrive, otherwise you can always install the latest custom ROM if your device is rooted. For those of you who would like to give it a try can get their hands on it for free from Google Play.
