Snapchat updated with new Discover Feature and a few other tweaks
For those of you who are addicted to SnapCat must have already received the latest (major) update by the time you are reading this post. For the rest of you who have not updated the app can manually do so from the Play Store. Snapchat has become one of the hottest and most downloaded apps in recent times especially among the younger generation and especially for all you “selfie” lovers out there. till now, people were able to either post their pics in the form of short 10 seconds or less messages, have temporary conversations with their friends or post stuff on their daily stories.
With the latest update, the team behind Snapchat have decided to notch things up a bit with the addition of the new “Discover” feature that lets you get short previews of the latest news and sports updates, entertainment related stories from all around the world and plenty more exciting stuff. The stories and news updates are posted by some of the leading names in the industry including CNN, ESPN, National Geographic, Comedy Central and many more. Swiping up on a given story would take you directly to a video or a text article. Each Discover story published would stay on the servers for 24 hours and would be updated on a daily basis.
Another notifiable change in the update is your friends list. You no longer get a traditional list of every buddy you’ve added by swiping to the right. Instead, Snapchat will only list any new stories from those buddies. You do still get a typical friends’ list view if you tap the Snapchat icon while on the camera view and select “My Contacts” so most of you would need some time to get used to the new layout.
The home screen is displayed by swiping the screen down from the top similar to how the notification panel is accessed. Snapchat gives users the ease to add their new friends by simply scanning the yellow Snapchat (QR Code enabled) icon. So what do you guys think of the latest update ? Personally speaking, I wasn’t much into using Snapchat myself but with the latest additions especially the new Discover Tab, I’ve begun to change my views on it. Good job guys !!
