WhatsApp is one of the most used Instant Messaging (IM) apps out there. Due to its multi-platform availability most people prefer it to other IM apps such as Viber, Kikk etc. Though, WhatsApp lacked one thing which its competitors already had and that was voice calling over the internet.
Well not any more, as a Reddit user Pradnesh Patil (pradnesh07) posted some screen shots of his WhatsApp having the voice calling feature. Now it is to our knowledge that not many people have received this feature this is due to the fact that you will need the following things to get it:
- Download the latest version of WhatsApp (v2.11.508) from the WhatsApp’s official website.
- Get an invite from a user who already has this feature active.
- Must be running on Android 4.3+.
Now the tricky part is getting the invites, even Pradnesh himself stated that he could not find any way to send invites to anybody yet. This is possibly due to the fact that WhatsApp is testing this feature first with a few users just to remove any unforeseen bugs. It will eventually be rolled out to everybody else slowly pretty soon.
For Rooted users there is still a way , Connect your device to a computer open the Command Terminal in your phone and type “su” then press enter then type this command:
am start -n com.whatsapp/com.whatsapp.HomeActivity
Now call a friend who already has the latest version of the app, and his feature will get enabled. Now tell him to call you back, now you will get this feature permanently. It is a bit of a pain but if anybody is up for it then give it a whirl. Goodluck
NOTE: Currently even if you download the latest version of the app you will not get this feature until and unless you get an invite.
