ASUS launches its 2nd-Gen Android Wear Smartwatch The ZenWatch 2

ASUS seems to be the first OEM to come up with its 2nd generation Android Wear device. Today at Computex 2015, they launched their new  Android Wear smart watch the ASUS ZenWatch 2 at their Zensation event in Taipei.  The device comes in two sizes a 49 x 41mm that takes 22mm watch bands for the gents, and a smaller one at 45 x 37mm which fits 18mm bands for the ladies. The ASUS ZenWatch 2 adds a metal crown to its side which was not found in its predecessor. Another change is the charging dock. Now the ASUS Zen Watch 2 comes with a magnetic charger, that according to ASUS charges the smart watch much quicker.   The watch body comes in three colors silver, gunmetal and rose gold. ASUS claims that the new ZenWatch 2 will have 18 strap options, including rubber, leather and metal. Not only that but they have also partnered with Swarovski for designer bands. The smart watch runs on Google’s latest Android Wear 5.1.1 Lollipop software, which gives the watch quite a UI overhaul compared to ASUS’s first android wear smart watch. Built -n comes a “Wellness” app similar to Google Fit and a “Watch Face Land” app that is used to design your very own watch faces. Specs Sheet The price of the device is still not available yet, but ASUS has confirmed that the watches will be available in Q3 of this year. Source:...

Moto 360 and LG G Watch R prices cut!!

If you guys are on a lookout to purchase a new Android Wear Smartwatch, now is the time to do so. As of today, the prices of last year’s smart watch of the year Moto 360 and the LG G Watch R have been permanently slashed on Google Play Store. The price of the G Watch R has been reduced by $50 and is now available for just $250 whereas the Moto 360 went a bit further with a $70 reduction and is now available at just $180 from its original $250 retail price. Moto 360 LG G Watch R One of the main reasons for these price cuts could mainly be to attract more buyers or to accommodate other big name watches that are slowly making their stride this year. With the LG Urbane being released today, the price reduction of its (quite impressive) predecessor seems fitting. The two devices were without any doubt the most successful Android Wear devices of 2014 so we can expect great things from their OEM’s this time around as well. Samsung’ Next Gear Will Be Round

Samsung’ Next Gear Will Be Round

Circular smart watches from Motorola, LG and Huawei were at a rage last year and continue to do so. Now, Samsung has decided to join the round faced band wagon. They have confirmed that their next Galaxy smart watch will be circular, well they have not mentioned it verbally but the invite they sent does confirm it. Samsung have sent an invite for their Next Gear, which would be the 7th Generation of Samsung Gear. The invite currently is for 3rd party app developers, sadly not for consumers yet, to help Samsung in designing the next Gear’s platform. If we know Samsung, this smart watch would be running on their on OS rather than Google’s Android Wear, but then again we can not confirm that. If you want to join in, then just head over to this link and get the SDK . Samsung has not given any other news as to what the appearance of their Next Gear will be like, but if Project Zero is to be considered then we may be getting a thing of beauty. Source:...

Android Wear 5.1 coming with WiFi Support, Always-On Apps and much more

Android Wear 5.1 coming with WiFi Support, Always-On Apps and much more

Android Wear has advanced quite a bit since its launch, with new features popping up with each update. Google has tried to redefine the way we use our watches – other then just tell the time, you can do so much more with the different smartwatches available in the market these days. Google has announced its next Android Wear update, which most probably be called Android Wear 5.1 Lollipop. Now this update brings with it a number of new features. Let us discuss each one below: Always-on screen, always-on apps Most smart watches these days come with an always screen on option, so that you do not have to touch your watch or flick your wrist to see the time. Now this function has been extended to third party apps, so that they will be left on until you want to close them yourself. This way for example if your WhatsApp-ing with someone then you will get notifications promptly without the screen turning off every time you move your hand away. The screen on the other hand will not be on full power, so that you can see the notifications as well as save your watches battery  (which would be most people’s concern). Wi-Fi support Now this feature is only for watches with have built-in WiFi in them, so that means your watch does not have to be connected with your phone via Bluetooth to receive notifications. The watch will catch its own WiFi signal and if  data/WiFi on your device is on then your smart watch will continue to get the alerts even if you leave your phone at home. Simpler, faster, and more smiley   Other updates include, a single touch on your smartwatch’s home-screen and you will have access to your apps and contacts. If your hands are dirty or occupied and you want to browse through the notifications, then just flick your wrist. Voila! Last but not the least now you can draw emojis on your smartwatch, and Android wear will recognize it and send it via message or text. This update will be available for all seven Android Wear running smartwatches: Moto 360 LG Watch Urbane LG G Watch R LG G Watch ASUS ZenWatch Samsung Gear Live Sony SmartWatch 3 The update will be rolled out in a couple of weeks starting with the latest LG Watch Urbane, so what are your views on this update, getting what you had asked for? Let us...
