HTC and Microsoft to bring dual boot devices soon

HTC and Microsoft to bring dual boot devices soon

Even though there are quite a few smartphones running on the Windows Phone platform since a couple of years now, they still haven’t managed to attract a large fan base. Same could be said for Taiwanese tech giants HTC who (according to their recent financial results) are struggling to keep pace with the other OEMs. As the famous saying goes, “If you can’t beat E’m…Join E’m” and that’s exactly what the two tech giants have in mind. According to Bloomberg, Microsoft is planning to integrate its Windows Phone Operating System on the Taiwanese manufacturers Android handsets and according to a few rumors, they are also willing to reduce or waive any associated licensing fees. Microsoft wants to make their platform, which holds a 3.7 percent market share, appealing to OEMs, especially after acquiring their own hardware arm from Nokia. Licensing fees (or lack thereof) that rival Android might be one way to do this. With this latest proposition, would we be seeing a dual boot HTC running on both Android and Windows Phone? Only time will tell. Stick around for further...

Galaxy S4 lock screen now available on the Google Play Store

Samsung has always been one to fancy up the lock screen of its various Android powered devices. The Galaxy S4 lock screen is one to be admired with its light effects, we all know how cool the S3 was when the ripple effect was introduced. Now thanks to 小D工作室 you can download the lock screen as an app from the Google Play Store for free. The screen lock can be customized quite a bit, with a variation of effects when you swipe the screen, with ripple and light you get blue rings, ink colors etc. You can also add shortcuts to the lock screen, but sadly you can not add widgets yet, so if you are running any device happening Android 4.2+ then you will lose your widgets. It works pretty smoothly and is definitely worth a look ,so head on to the Play Store and download the app...

HTC and Beats Audio finally call it a day

HTC and Beats Audio finally call it a day

Looks like it’s the end of the road for HTC and Beats Audio. The Taiwanese tech giants have officially announced the sale of its 25% stake amounting to around $265 million in Dr Dre’s Beats Audio back to the company in which it had invested a few years ago. Even though there is no apparent reason given by either entity, we are assuming that both parties had different plans for the future and neither one of them never actually saw eye to eye with each other. What’s left unclear now is the fact whether HTC would still be focusing on their existing devices having Beats Audio with future updates for its BoomSound technology currently present in their flagship device, the HTC One. HTC currently has a long list of devices running Beats Audio and what needs to be seen now is whether these would be taken care of in the future or not. We’ll keep you guys posted if something else comes...

HTC One Developer Edition starts getting Android 4.3 OTA Update

HTC had announced that their flagship smartphone the HTC One would be getting a taste of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean during this time frame. They seem to been keeping on schedule as word was that some phones in Taiwan had already started getting the 564.04 MB update. Jason Makcenzie HTC America’s President had stated earlier this week that if all went as planned the other models would soon be joining the Android 4.3 family. The HTC One Developer Edition and the HTC One Unlocked International  (carrier free) models would be receiving the update first, then the carrier ones. The software update version is 3.22.1540.1, which brings all the new features of Android 4.3 as well as enhancements in HTC’s own Sense 5 UI. This is it for now, we shall let you know the complete change log once we find it out. If your HTC One is getting an update notification then it most probably is Android 4.3.
