Consume less data on Chrome using Google Data Saver – [How-to Guide]

Consume less data on Chrome using Google Data Saver – [How-to Guide]

With a continuous rise in mobile data usage in recent times, the fear of consuming your entire data plan keeps looming in your mind. For this, Google has come up with a good solution that lets you reduce the amount of data Chrome uses on your Android mobile device, computer, or Chromebook by using Data Saver. Please note that Data Saver isn’t available for iPhones or iPads. How Data Saver works When you use Data Saver, most of your web traffic goes through Google servers before being downloaded to your device. Less data gets downloaded to your device, because Google servers will compress it. Note: Even with Data Saver, you won’t reduce the amount of data you’re downloading when you’re on secure pages, whose addresses start with https, or Incognito pages. With Data Saver turned on: Some websites might not be able to accurately determine your location. Some images might look a little fuzzy. Internal websites, such as your company’s internal sites, might not load. Sites that your mobile carrier uses to authenticate and bill you might not work. For example, you might have trouble logging in to your mobile phone provider’s website. Local settings will be ignored if you manually modified your /etc/hosts file. Turn on Data Saver Android device Open the Chrome app . Tap More Settings. Under “Advanced,” tap Data Saver. Slide the switch ON. You can switch this off at any time. Computers and Chromebooks You can use the Data Saver extension if you’re running Chrome version 48 or higher. Turn on Data Saver: Install the Data Saver extension from Chrome Web Store. Data Saver should be turned on by default. If it’s not, click Turn On Data Saver. Turn off Data Saver: Open Chrome. In the top right, click Data Saver . Click Turn Off Data Saver. Safer Chrome browsing on mobile devices When you turn on Data Saver for your phone or tablet, Chrome uses Safe Browsing technology to protect you from malware and phishing attacks. Chrome will warn you if you’re about to visit a dangerous site. Safe Browsing is always available on Chrome for your computer and Chromebooks. Source:...

Introducing the Galaxy Note7 – The smartphone that thinks big

Introducing the Galaxy Note7 – The smartphone that thinks big

Samsung is known for its innovation and that is exactly what users expect to get each year especially in the company’s GALAXY S and GALAXY Note series devices. This year we saw the GALAXY S7 Edge take the world by storm with its powerful features especially the camera which is by far the best smartphone camera we have used till now. Now the one question on everyone’s mind was exactly how Samsung are going to top their most prized device of 2016? Well, the company answered that question with the launch of the all new GALAXY Note 7 at a grand event in New York on August 2nd. Following in the footsteps of its successful predecessor, the Note 5, Samsung decided not to name their new Note the Note 6 instead giving it the same number as its younger sibling the S7. According to Samsung, they wanted to streamline their flagship GALAXY series into one so now when you come to think of it, that does make sense. Now moving onto the phone itself, the Note 7 comes with a bunch of new features including the much awaited Iris scanner giving the device an extra layer of security along with the very fast and intuitive finger print scanner. Other features include the addition of the (greatly missed) microSD card slot and IP68 certification making it the first Note device to be water resistant. The Note 7 comes with a 5.7-inch Dual-edge Super AMOLED 2560 x 1440 display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and 518ppi, an improved version of the S Pen and runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Under the hood lies a Quad-core 64-bit (2.15GHz Dual + 1.6GHz Dual) Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 or Octa-core Samsung Exynos 8890 processor (varying on different regions), 4GB LPDDR4 RAM, a Dual Pixel 12MP rear camera with OIS, f/1.7 aperture and a 5MP front camera with f/1.7 aperture, a 3550 mAh battery and is the first Samsung device to support USB Type-C connectivity. As far as storage is concerned, the Note 7 only comes with 64GB of on board storage with microSD card support up to 256GB. The Note 7 comes in four radiant colors: Black Onyx, Blue Coral, Gold Platinum and Silver Titanium and would be available on August 19 with pre-orders already underway. The devices are priced at around US$850 in the US, around £600 in the UK, and around A$1,200 in Australia. For those of you who are still using a Note 4 or an even older model, the Note 7 would be a wonderful upgrade. With a powerful camera, Iris Scanner and a host of other cool features, the GALAXY Note 7 seems ready to take a bite out of you know who’s next...

The much needed update brings fixes for a number of issues that were addressed by a number of players in recent weeks. Most notable changes include Nearby that has officially been renamed to “Sightings” and the ability to change  your username. It would had been cool if they added the ability to change the color as well but lets leave that for now. Here’s the list of all the changes that have been made in the latest version of the app – v0.33 Added a dialog to remind Trainers that they should not play while traveling above a certain speed. Trainers must confirm they are not driving in order to continue playing. Made improvements to the accuracy of a curveball throw. Fixed a bug that prevented ”Nice,” ”Great,” and “Excellent” Poké Ball throws from awarding the appropriate XP bonuses. Fixed achievements showing incorrect Medal icons. Enabled the ability for Trainers to change their nickname one time. Please choose your new nickname wisely. Resolved issues with the battery saver mode on iOS and re-enabled the feature. Added visuals of Team Leaders Candela, Blanche, and Spark. We’re currently testing a variation of the “Nearby Pokémon” feature with a subset of users. During this period you may see some variation in the nearby Pokémon UI. Minor text fixes Based on the very first point, its clear that Niantic is taking extra safety precautions more seriously in light of a number of road accidents and various other incidents that people are getting themselves into while playing the game. Arsenal launch Junior Gunners App

Arsenal launch Junior Gunners App

Arsenal has become the first Premier League football club to launch a fully interactive children’s app specifically for  their young supporters. Junior Gunners and young Arsenal fans globally can look forward to joining a virtual world and playing a host of fun and educational games. Young fans can start by creating their very own Arsenal avatar from over 174 customisation options. That’s over 15 trillion possible customisation combinations! One of the app’s most popular games is certain to be ‘Pocket Player’, featuring digital avatars of three first-team players; Hector Bellerin, Mesut Ozil and Theo Walcott. These ‘Pocket Players’ live in four areas within a virtual Arsenal world; the changing room and pitch at Emirates Stadium, the canteen, where users can feed the players from food actually served at the Training Ground, and a bedroom. Children can also look forward to playing ‘Squad Boss’, where they will manage their very own six-a-side Arsenal team throughout the season and compete against their friends. There are a number of trophies to be won by completing challenges in both of these games and other areas of the app. All the games aim to educate children and help them develop new skills. For instance, the training element of the Pocket Player game will help them develop their hand-eye coordination, and they will learn about nutrition and healthy foods as they help fuel their Pocket Players. Some of our Junior Gunners members formed part of focus groups alongside their parents to ensure that the app was really tailored for that age group. Aimed at children aged 4-10, the app will give our young supporters a safe environment to engage with both the club and their friends. It is a free app with no in-app purchases and operates on a closed network, so children cannot interact with strangers.     Anne-Lise Johnsen, Arsenal youth product manager, said: “With over 36,500 Junior Gunner members and even more young Arsenal fans round the world, we are proud to launch an app targeted specifically to them. We hope the Junior Gunners app will elevate the experience and engagement the club has with our fans of the future, not just here in north London, but globally.” As one of the players featuring in the app’s ‘Pocket Player’ game, Mesut Ozil was excited to see his virtual avatar for the first time. “My avatar looks really good and so do Hector and Theo’s! They really look like us and I think some of our team-mates will be quite jealous. I hope the children really enjoy playing Pocket Player and all the other games on the app. I’m looking forward to having a go myself.” The Junior Gunners app is...

Infinix Mobility – The brand everyone is buzzing about

Infinix Mobility – The brand everyone is buzzing about

Infinix has been a common name among smartphone enthusiasts these days and the brand’s popularity has been flourishing in leaps and bounds. Considering the fact that the company just recently celebrated its one year anniversary here in Pakistan, it has already become a fan favorite. We’ve seen some amazing devices released by the OEM in the past year including the ever popular Hot Note to the company’s flagship device of 2016, the Zero 3. All these devices have been nothing less than exemplary and credit should be given to the entire team behind the success of the brand. One of the core values of Infinix revolves around the company’s continuous interaction with its fans and for them; the voice of their customers is the most important thing. Infinix Mobility held a grand event yesterday at a local hotel in Karachi, where they announced the Infinix Hot S, their very first full metal body device along with a very fast and highly responsive finger print sensor. Infinix’s CEO and Co-Founder, Mr. Andy Yan announced the extremely budget friendly device that not just boasts some really impressive specs, it looks quite sleek and elegant as well. With the Hot S, the company has tried to focus exactly on what the fans had been asking for since quite some time to deliver a device comprising a perfect blend between beauty and core functionality. The event which was streamed live on the company’s Facebook page was hosted by famous Pakistani TV celebrity, Anoushey Ashraf and was followed by a Q&A session after the launch where participants were asked various questions about the brand and the phone’s features. Lucky winners were rewarded with the sleek new Infinix noise cancelling earphones that were also launched at the event. We would be doing a full review on both the devices in the weeks to come but for now, you can head over to our Facebook page for more event coverage. The phone is priced at Rs. 16,899/- and is now available at Yayvo.com and Daraz.pk across Pakistan with one year local warranty. So what do you guys think about the new Infinix Hot S? Infinix Mobility launches the Infinix Hot S with Finger Print Scanner, Full Metal Body and XOS

Infinix Mobility launches the Infinix Hot S with Finger Print Scanner, Full Metal Body and XOS

Infinix Mobility launched the Infinix Hot S in Pakistan today and with it came a lot of firsts for the mobile manufacturer. The Hot S is Infinix’s first device with a full metal body, the first device to come with a finger print scanner and the very first device to run on their all new XOS software based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Infinix’s CEO and Co – Founder Mr. Andy Yan took to the stage, to take off the curtains on their new device. The Infinix Hot S comes with a 5.2 inch 720p IPS Display on a Full Metal body with a streamline finish. Cortex 1.3 GHz Octa (8) Core processor with 64 bit architecture and a MALI-T720 GPU. On the memory front, the device comes in two models 2GB RAM / 16GB internal memory and a 3GB RAM / 16GB variant. The 3GB RAM edition will be launched at a later undisclosed date. Now lets talk about the camera, the Hot S comes with a 13MP rear camera with Dual LED flash and an 8MP front facing camera with Ultra Pixel technology, front flash light and a 120 degree wide angle selfie shot. It also has a new video recording and editing software called Movie Magic, which is really helpful for those who like to tweak and filter their videos. The finger print sensor on the back adds an extra layer of protection to the device, and from the brief time I spent with the device, I can say the scanner showed around 99% accuracy, which is quite impressive for their first time. The scanner is also placed very well, so it makes unlocking the device very fluid and easy. On the software side of things, the Hot S comes with Infinix’s brand new OS theme, called XOS Chameleon 2.0 running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It is a much improved version of its predecessor XUI, and it really did feel a whole lot snappier too. The new XOS has a lot of changes, some of which include apps such as XHide (Hide Apps for security), Interactive dial and Freezer. Now, the freezer option in particular caught my eye. What it basically does is, keeps unused apps from using the memory in the background. This is very helpful for longer battery life and overall RAM consumption. Talking about the battery the HOT S comes with a 3000 mAh battery which should ideally last you a day. Though we can only confirm once we get our own review device. Other features include, dual sim support with 4G and a MicroSD card slot which can support up to 128GB. The Hot S comes in 5...
