Galaxy S7 vs LG G5 vs Huawei Mate 8 [CHART]

Galaxy S7 vs LG G5 vs Huawei Mate 8 [CHART]

Hey guys, after the launch of the Samsung S7 and the LG G5 last night, we thought it would be fun to compare them with Huawei’s new beast the Mate 8. All three are neck to neck in terms of raw power. Some features like Always-on display are available for Samsung and LG’s flagship but not Huawei. Then on the other hand, the Huawei Mate 8 has a massive 4000 mAh battery a compared to the 3000 and 2800 mAh found in the S7 and the G5 respectively. One interesting thing though, is that LG have revamped their UI completely, meaning no more app drawer. Something which Huawei is doing for quite a while now. Samsung has apparently also jumped on the same band wagon, and given an option to remove the app drawer. This is supporting the rumors that the Android N will not have an app drawer. (Yay or Nay?)    Talking about the camera, the Samsung Galaxy S7 has a 12 MP shooter but with the first ever Dual Pixel setup for brighter low light imaging and the Huawei Mate 8 has a 16MP shooter with OIS. This is where the LG G5 has set itself apart from the competition with a dual camera setup a 16MP standard lens and an 8MP wide angle lens for a much wider viewing angle and better depth immersion. On paper, the Samsung S7 and the LG G5 have much better display’s but having a lower resolution display normally dose mean better battery management. All three devices come with fast charging and microSD card slots. Well, that’s about it from our part. Which one is your favorite? Do let us...

Samsung officially announces the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge

Samsung officially announces the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge

The Unpacked event just got over and the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge were officially unveiled. Earlier we got some of the specs, and we are happy to say most of them were in line. The Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge both are beasts when it comes to raw power due to the Exynos 8890 and Snapdragon 820 chipsets. If that wasn’t enough, the devices house 4GB LPDDR4 RAM to speed things up. The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge have surpassed the competition when it comes to graphical performance, joining hands with Epic Studios to come up with Next Gen Console like immersive gaming experience. The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge come with the new Vulcan API for gaming that Android 6.0 introduced to the platform, and Samsung has also built-in quite a few tools and features of its own to improve the gaming experience. Not only that but users are also getting $200 worth of in-game currency to use. While we are on the topic of gaming, it is also worth mentioning that the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge both come with “Liquid Cooling”, which keeps the heating at bay, for those long gaming sessions. We are also rejoiced to say, Samsung have heard the cries of its customers and brought back the microSD card slot (slow applause). Both the devices can support upto 200GB, which is more than enough even for the power user. Internal storage options are 32GB or 64, though 128GB could be in the pipeline too but was not mentioned at the event. Talking a bit about the design, the S7 and S7 edge both bring back the metal and glass body of their predecessors. Though a few changes have been made which are more than welcome especially for the S7 edge. A lot of people had complained that the Galaxy S6 edge plus did not feel right in the hand, it had no grip. Samsung have rectified this, by using 3D thermal forming to make an ergonomic back, which gives it a much better grip. Now, lets talk about the camera, if increasing mega pixels was the way to go, then Samsung have taken a step back. Though, this is not true (some may argue that it is, but then that’s their opinion), the lens is what makes the difference. The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge come with the first ever Dual Pixel camera, which means that auto focus speed has bumped up quite a bit, as compared to the S6, which was considered to have the best camera, is quite impressive. The 12.2 MP camera sensor has an aperture of f/1.7 which means can...

LG G5 is the first Modular Device with Dual Cameras, Always on Display and Much More

LG G5 is the first Modular Device with Dual Cameras, Always on Display and Much More

The LG5 has been finally announced and to be honest has surprised a lot of us. The LG G5 is the very first modular phone, which means that you can convert the device into a camera or a high definition music player. The design language has changed quite a bit as well, which is always fun to see. Though how many people appreciate the change is still to be decided. The back volume and power buttons have been now replaced with a finger print scanner, which doubles up as a power button. On the back of device is a set of dual cameras, a standard 16MP camera with OIS and a secondary 8MP camera for wide angle shots, so when you take a picture, the camera will capture up to a wide angle of 135 degrees. You even have the option to manually choose which camera you want to use, the transition between the two is pretty smooth as well.  The front of the device houses a 8MP shooter. The LG G5 has a 5.3 inch IPS QHD Quantum Display, with the Always on Display feature. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip-set, Adreno 530 GPU with 4GB of RAM. Storage wise the LG G5 comes in 32GB and a microSD card slot which can handle up to 2TB.  The battery on the device is a 2800 mAh and is removable. On the software front the LG G5 runs on the latest Android 6 Marshmallow with LG UI. An interesting thing is that LG have revamped their UI quite a bit from the LG G4. Most importantly there is no longer an app drawer, according to LG people did not really care about the app drawer and this way, apps are more easily accessible. Now, lets talk about the LG Play Modules, the LG G5 comes with a bunch of new accessories they call modules. Now, two of them are attached to the phone itself, you just need to press the button near the bottom of the device and the bottom of the device literary opens up like a gun’s magazine. Then you can attach whichever module you want. Other than that there is a new VR head set, a 360 degree camera and even a cool little robot. Taken from the official press release: LG CAM Plus The LG CAM Plus is a versatile camera module that can be attached through the battery slot to deliver a comfortable grip and convenient control of a standalone camera. The LG CAM Plus provides physical buttons for power, shutter, record, zoom, LED indicator and comfortable grip. It also offers intuitive auto focus and exposure...
