Say Goodbye to regular Wi-Fi signal drops with Plume Pods

Say Goodbye to regular Wi-Fi signal drops with Plume Pods

In today’s wireless world where everything is seemingly connected over a local Wi-Fi network, we often seem to face a common issue where we do not get full signal strengths in all the rooms of our house. Agreed? There are some people who besides having two-three routers in a house sometimes complain about drop in signals especially if there are lots of doors and walls. All this is about to change with Plume Podsan adaptive WiFi network system which uses multiple pods throughout your house to give you the best coverage possible. The concept behind Plume Pods may sound similar to a standard mesh network, but Plume has developed a self-learning system which adapts to your house, your devices and surrounding WiFI networks to consistently deliver a fast and reliable WiFi connection. Simply connect a pod in each room and enjoy uninterrupted connectivity throughout the house. Each Pod is about the size of a small night bulb and plugs right into the wall. The Pods also come with an Ethernet port but you only need to connect one pod to your modem using a regular LAN cable. “Plume is a cloud coordinated WiFi system that exponentially increases the signal strength and quality of your WiFi. It monitors your WiFi activity and balances your network load without sacrificing the performance of one device over another. Plume utilizes multiple WiFi channels in the same home to communicate between Plume Pods, eliminating congestion as your WiFi demands change and increase. Our cloud algorithms figure out which band to use for each device to ensure your devices have access to the speed they deserve, avoiding interference along the way. Plume WiFi adapts to the physical space you live in, your online devices, your household, and even to your neighbor’s WiFi usage patterns (yes, their networks also impact your environment!). It adapts real-time to your personal needs.” As far as pricing and availability is concerned, the company is in the final testing phase before the Pods go on sale this fall. If you pre-order today, you can get a pack of six Pods for $234 with each additional Pod costing $39. Once the devices are floated in the market, each Plume Pod will be retailing at $49. Pre-orders are currently only limited to the US but the company says that it is planning to open them up to other countries as well before the official launch. So what do you guys think of this new handy little device? If you’re like me who uses multiple routers to cover the entire house, the Plume Pods can very well be the solution to all our Wi-Fi related problems. Source: Plume...

The all new Moto Z, Moto Z Force and Moto Mods

The all new Moto Z, Moto Z Force and Moto Mods

Modular devices seem to be the talk of the town these days. We have already talked about the LG G5 and the much anticipated Project Ara along with the recently announced BLOCKS which also happens to be the world’s first modular smartwatch. Not the ones to be left behind, Lenovo have also announced their new range of modular devices – The Moto Z and the Moto Z Force at the recently concluded Lenovo Tech World event in San Francisco. The company also announced a vast collection of Moto Mods that get attached to the back of devices using powerful electronic magnets. Let us now take a closer look at both the devices along with the Mods: Moto Z The Moto Z sports a 5.5-inch 1440 x 2560 display and is powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with 4GB of RAM. The phone packs 32GB and 64GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 2GB via a microSD card. As far as the cameras are concerned, the Motorola Moto Z packs a 13-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel front shooter for selfies. The device runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box and is powered by a 2600mAh non removable battery. It measures 153.30 x 75.30 x 5.20 (height x width x thickness) and weighs 136.00 grams. The Motorola Moto Z is a single SIM (GSM) smartphone that accepts a Nano-SIM. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, 4G. Sensors on the phone include Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, Accelerometer, and Gyroscope. The one thing missing from both these devices is your traditional 3.5mm headphone jacks that have been replaced by a standalone USB type C to 3.5mm connector which comes with the phones. Introducing BLOCKS – The world’s first modular smartwatch

Introducing BLOCKS – The world’s first modular smartwatch

Not too long ago we were all buzzing about modular smartphones which could very well be the future of most of our hand held devices. When we talk about modular devices, Google’s Project Ara and LG’s latest flagship phone of 2016, the LG G5, would be among the first names that come to mind. If these aren’t enough to make a few jaws drop, we’ve got another exciting entrant in the modular devices family – BLOCKS which is the world’s first modular smartwatch. What’s most exciting about these modular devices is the option to customize them as per your own needs. Same goes for the smartwatch, which offers a wide variety of options for you to choose from. The modules include: Extra Battery Heart Rate GPS Adventure (Module has a 3-in-1 sensor which combines digital humidity, pressure and temperature sensors in one). Flashlight Programmable button   Four of the aforementioned modules come with the watch and the good thing is you get to choose all four of them. The BLOCKS smartwatch is expected to release in October this year and will be retailing for $330 with $11 in shipping costs if you’re in the US and $15 for the rest of the world (Pre-orders have already started). Additional modules can also be purchased separately which will cost you an extra $35 per piece. We really like the idea of customizing your watch according to your own needs and even though Motorola offer a similar option with the 2ndgeneration Moto 360, BLOCKS offers something uniquely different. If you’re on the lookout to get a new smartwatch running on Android Wear anytime soon, then you probably should wait a few more months. The BLOCKS smartwatch features a 1.39” full circular 400 x 400 Gorilla Glass AMOLED Round Display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8009w processor, 512MB RAM, a 300 mAh battery, 4GB of storage, a stainless steel casing, microphone, WIFI 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 (BLE) and runs on the latest version of Android (Wear) Marshmallow. The watch is also fully compatible with iOS devices which will surely make Apple users quite happy. Even though the market for smartwatches hasn’t quite gone mainstream as anticipated, the modular technology might just be able to change this norm and in doing so, re-define the future of how smartwatches can be utilized. Let us know your thoughts on this in the comments below. Cheers! BLOCKS Smarwatch Tech Specs at a Glance 1.39″ AMOLED 400×400 Display 300mAh battery Stainless Steel casing Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8009w processor 512MB RAM 4GB Storage Microphone WIFI 802.11 b/g/n Bluetooth 4.1 (BLE) G Sens + Gyro E-Compass Android Marshmallow Source:...

How to run Android on an iPhone [Video]

How to run Android on an iPhone [Video]

Now here’s some interesting news that is sure to create a lot of buzz among iOS and Android enthusiasts. We have seen the feud going on for years between both parties and it still continues to do so with each new Android device competing with its Apple counterpart and vice versa. But what if there is a way to simultaneously run your iPhone on both iOS and Android platforms? Sound surprising? Well, a guy who goes by the name of Nick Lee has figured a unique way to run Android on an iPhone 6S…..well sort of actually! Currently working as the CTO of a mobile development studio in Brooklyn called “Tendigi”, Nick built a custom 3D printed enclosure which acts as an iPhone 6S case. Inside the case lies a Lemaker HiKey circuit board that runs on a customized version of Android Marshmallow. Using a lightning connector to plug into the iPhone, the Tendigi iOS app allows the two devices to interact with each other. Technically speaking, the iPhone’s screen acts as a display and from what we see in the video, it’s doing a pretty decent job. The case also includes openings for HDMI and USB ports and even has a SD card slot. The whole idea of an iPhone being able to run on Android was derived from a previous experiment in which Nick was successful in running Windows 95 on an Apple Watch. Do watch the video and judge for yourself in case you have trouble believing what you just read. So what do you guys think of this unique concept? Could it be adapted in the main stream consumer market? Do share your thoughts with us in the comments...
