A new TechCrunch article lambastes the usage of a pentile screen on the new Samsung Galaxy Nexus. This means that the display, instead of a even red-green-blue pixel distribution, has the colors randomly scattered about. In theory, pentile displays can increase resolution of the screen and increase the number of visible pixels. However, it has potential downfalls of causing blurry or choppy graphics.

The Samsung Galaxy S also had a pentile screen.

The Galaxy Nexus, set to release in mid-November, is set to be one of the hottest Android 4.0 cellphones of the 2011 holiday season.
