In an attempt to parody and compete with Apple’s new Siri voice-recognition program, a team of Android developers have released Iris. Called the “Intelligent Rival Imitator of Siri,” it matches Siri’s voice calling, Google searching, and apparently, evasive wit. Could this be the new advent of artificial intelligence chatting programs? Only time can tell.

For those who don’t know, Siri is a chatting and voice calling program that’s one of the new touted features of the ┬áiPhone 4GS. It can text people, find recipes, read directions, and conduct all sorts of shenanigans.

They claim that Iris’s intelligence matches Siri. Do you believe it? Check it out for yourself (for free!) at the Android marketplace.

Iris also has a twitter at @iristalks and a Facebook page.
