Samsung has finally given out an official statement that the highly anticipated Galaxy S3 will not be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress. The phone was fully expected to launch at the flagship event in Barcelona later this month, but Samsung has stated there will be a separate event to show off the new device:

“Samsung is looking forward to introducing and demonstrating exciting new mobile products at Mobile World Congress 2012.

“The successor to the Galaxy S2 smartphone will be unveiled at a separate Samsung-hosted event in the first half of the year, closer to commercial availability of the product.

“Samsung stays committed to providing the best possible mobile experiences for customers around the world.”

To all android developers and fans waiting for this phone will have to now wait till summer for its launcing. Rumor has it that this is a strategical move on the South Korean Giant’s part, as Apple will most probably be launching its iPhone 5 during that time. It’s also thought that the Galaxy S3’s big launch might be timed to coincide with the London 2012 Olympics. Samsung is involved with Visa Europe in terms of providing contactless payment services in time for the games. Do no fret Android lovers as even without Samsung showing off their Galaxy S3, there will be tons of new Android devices from Motorola, LG, HTC, Sony etc on display at the M.W.C. 2012.
