Samsung launching the Galaxy S3 Mini – Confirmed
Samsung’s rumors for its smaller version of the Galaxy S3 were pretty strong this past week, now it has been confirmed by none other than JK Shin, Chief of the mobile division. Shin did not give alot of info about the device but did say:
“We’ll be launching a 4-inch Galaxy S III on the 11th in Germany,” Shin said. “There’s a lot of demand for a 4-inch screen device in Europe. Some call it an entry-level device, but we call it ‘mini.’’’
Though Shin did not say anything about it, it is pretty clear that Samsung have taken this step to rival Apple’s iPhone 5 as it would come under the 4-inch devices category. Shin did mention that even though this will be called “mini” it will by no means be a “entry-level” cell phone.
The Galaxy S3 mini will be running Samsung’s Touch Wiz Nature UX which was introduced in the original Galaxy S3. The device is mainly targeted for the European market, but will definitely be available in other regions as well. So we will let you know more about the device as soon as it gets unveiled in Germany tomorrow. According to leaked news the Galaxy S3 would have the following specifications:
CPU: 1GHz dual-core ST Ericsson U8420
Micro SD slot: Yes
Display: 4-inch WVGA Super AMOLED
OS: Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean)
Battery: 1500 mAh
Camera: 5 MP, with front facing camera.
